From Amsdorf to global reach

Since the mid-19th century, lignite has been mined and refined in the Tertiary basin near Röblingen. In 1922, the first montan wax factory in Amsdorf began large-scale production.  At that time, it was the largest and most modern facility for the extraction of montan wax. Since then, Amsdorf has remained a leading center in the development of advanced technologies in the extraction and processing of montan wax.
